Burgerville Inspires a 500-Mile Bike Tour Across the Pacific Northwest

VANCOUVER, Wash., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- It's a task that only endurance bicyclists and lovers of the popular Burgerville burger can accomplish -- riding a bicycle 500 miles in four days, just to be able to visit every single Burgerville restaurant across Oregon and Washington. Inspired by the company's commitment and involvement in the community, Brent Krebsbach and Paul LaFrance will attempt to do just that on October 6 to 9, 2007.

Earlier this year, Krebsbach and LaFrance, both involved in endurance training, were enjoying a meal at Burgerville, when they compared how many Burgerville restaurants each had visited. During that conversation, an idea was born. The idea is to visit every single Burgerville restaurant across the Pacific Northwest, by riding more than 100 miles a day to accomplish the feat. Both LaFrance and Krebsbach are dedicated fans of the 39-restaurant chain, because of Burgerville's loyalty to their employees by providing them with affordable health care, and their commitment to fresh ingredients and sustainable business practices. Burgerville continually looks for ways to improve not only their communities, but the lives of their guests and employees.

"As a kid, it was partially proximity that brought me to Burgerville. I grew up with one just down the road from my house. As time goes on, it's not only the food that I appreciate, but it's the message Burgerville delivers by their actions," noted Krebsbach. "A message of sustainability that more isn't always better. In a world of one-stop shopping and big business, it's refreshing to have a neighborhood friendly company like Burgerville."

Burgerville partners with local businesses, farms and producers to not only bring the best ingredients, but to support the local communities and create a healthy regional economy. Burgerville serves only 100 percent Country Natural Beef, and is also committed to purchasing 100 percent local wind power and recycling trans fat free Canola oil into biodiesel. Burgerville is committed to making a positive difference in the community and maintaining their mission of always "serving with love."

"We hope that the 500-mile journey by Paul and Brent to visit all of our restaurants will inspire others to find ways to support their goals of sustainable living, such as cycling instead of driving," said Jack Graves, Burgerville's chief cultural officer. "We invite all of our guests to help us cheer the cyclists on during their ride through the region, and join Burgerville to establish and sustain thriving communities."

The Burgerville bike tour begins on October 6, at the Burgerville restaurant in Centralia, Washington and ends on October 9, at the Burgerville at The Dalles, Oregon. Burgerville guests are encouraged to partake in the Burgerville 500 drawing on October 6 to 9. First place winner will receive a Schwinn IC Elite stationary bike worth $1,099, the second place winner will receive a pair of large Schwinn cycling shorts and a yellow jersey, and third through sixth place winners will each receive a $25 gift card from the Bike Gallery.
