The tenets of Twin Dragon, a buffet restaurant with a twist, is “cleanliness, freshness and variety” are embodied in the entire structure of how the restaurant operates, says owner Ben Wang. To provide customers with a spotless and tidy environment, the owner emphasizes the importance of creating a clean establishment. For him, first impressions are lasting. When a client walks into Twin Dragon they notice the immaculate surroundings and an immediate trust is built between customer and staff. It's hard to overlook such details and as such, diners can relax and enjoy their meal in a safe environment. All questions over quality and doubts are quelled.
Pure fresh goodness is what the owner delivers to the customers on a daily basis. To maintain this freshness, owner Ben Wang would rather purchase smaller quantities: only two cases of produce per day to get his cream of the crop. Of course if he purchased in bulk he'd get a much more favorable price. Yet that is not his aim. Another surefire way of avoiding unexpected annoyances such as equipment breakage is to conduct regular maintenance checks. Should the refrigerator or freezer go down, that would affect the quality and safety (from a health perspective) of the food. “I shall guarantee that the food is fresh at all times” says Mr. Wang.
The menu features an interesting blend of American style Chinese food and other ethnic culinary delights. This creates a distinctive experience that is both culturally inspired and comfortably Asian. The ingredients and aromas that give these dishes their unique flavor are good for the body and mind. The concept of healthy dining is what the owner insists on delivering. Since they opened their doors in 2004 the chefs at Twin Dragons haven't used MSG nor trans fat oil. Instead they use salad oil. In general, Wang's policy is to use low sodium soy sauce and low dosages of salt and oil. MSG has been found by the health care industry to prove unhealthy. It causes thirst and can cause MSG symptom complex. Although it is pricier to replace MSG with higher quality seasonings, Ben Wang insists on doing the right thing.
“I wanted healthier customers rather than those who would have problems with MSG,” said Ben.
Work Ethic
There's a work schedule and detailed checklist to clearly describe each task allocated to the staff. For example the kitchen manager is in control of the overall operation in the back of the house, while another manager overlooks the front of the house, greeting customers and managing the wait staff. This mechanism enables everyone to make full use of their talents and ensures that nothing is overlooked.
What's For Lunch or Dinner?
To attract more customers, there is a wealth of choice. With over 200 items to choose from customers can eat till their heart's content. There's everything you'd find at a buffet bar from - Sesame Chicken to Kung Pao Shrimp. Heir customized Hibachi is a unique find. A Hibachi is a Japanese styled BBQ. Hibachi cooked meals can be ordered upon request using any number of sauces such as ginger, garlic or teriyaki over a selection of meats, poultry or vegetables. Besides those dishes, diners will find sushi, a full salad bar, premium Hershey and Blue Bunny ice cream, cakes as well as alcoholic drinks.
What diners find refreshing here are the ideas imparted by creative chefs who use unusual spices, sauces and ingredients. On Saturdays, a dim sum buffet is available, displaying a variety of traditional Chinese styled brunch. Some of the delectable offerings include glutinous rice dumplings, scallion pancakes, sesame ball, congee, and soy bean milk.
Dazzling Décor
When diners enter Twin Dragon, they are in for a twin shock: the entire restaurant is done up in “good luck” red with pink and gold trimmings and the stunning buffet bar contains hundreds of delectable eats featuring a nice representation from all areas of China. Red lanterns line the aisle separating the tables (behind carved glass plates) from another seating area that has a curved oval gateway made from the same red mahogany wood that is prevalent throughout the entire restaurant. The oval gateway, according to Feng Shui, is a symbol of good fortune to those who enter. In former times, people lived within the walls of houses that were attached together in a communal area. The entry point for the microcosmic neighborhood was an oval archway.
A recessed lit ceiling above the buffet bars is striped in pink, gold, white and light blue fluorescent lights, not quite neon yet certainly festive. An extravagant crystal chandelier hangs above the bars, as is common practice at other buffet bars. There's a waterfall with fish swimming around a little pond at the entrance. The owner Ben Wang, designed the restaurant's interior himself sticking to the red, pink theme. He likes ornate displays as can be witnessed by jade crafted items or dragons purchased in
