A New Haven restaurant was spending the Thanksgiving holiday helping to feed and provide clothing to those in need.
Inside the Christopher Martins Restaurant on the corner of State Street, about two dozen volunteers stocked clothing on Wednesday night.
“This all showed up here on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, everyone knows to save their clothes, drop it off the Monday before Thanksgiving,” said event organizer Chris Vigilante.
About 500 people were expected at the restaurant on Thursday, and would be given a three-course meal and a shopping bag to shop for clothing for free.
“We get big hugs, kisses from the people with little money,” Vigilante said. “It touches the heart.”
