Number of Pay Raises up, Report Says

More employees received pay raises last year than in the previous year, according to the 2005 Corporate Compensation and Benefits Survey recently released by People Report, a human-resources research firm here that tracks trends among 85 restaurant companies. About 93 percent of corporate employees received raises in 2004 — 8.8 percent more than those receiving raises in 2003. Pay raises averaged 4.4 percent last year. Eighty percent of restaurant managers received raises, a 7-percent increase from the prior year. Pay rose 4.7 percent for managers on average. More than 87 percent of top executives were given raises, an 18.9 percent increase from 2003. The average pay raise for top executives was nearly 6 percent.
