Congress Approves Seasonal Visa Amendment

U.S. Congress gave final approval to an amendment that effectively will add to the ranks of seasonal immigrant workers holding H-2B visas. The measure, called "The Save Our Small And Seasonal Businesses Act of 2005," was introduced by Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., and was passed earlier by the United States Senate as an amendment to the final Iraq-Afghanistan Emergency Supplemental Bill. As of this writing, President Bush is expected to sign the measure, which should help ease the pressure on restaurateurs, hoteliers and resort operators looking to hire workers from other countries to fill jobs that Americans do not want. http://www.nrn.com/story
