General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.), spoke at the 2005 National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show, held May 21-24 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill. With 73,000 attendees and 2,000+ exhibiting companies from more than 100 countries, the Show was heralded as an international marketplace and a microcosm of the global restaurant-and-foodservice community. The $476 billion restaurant industry embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and drive that serve as a model for many businesses in other countries, and the Show provided excellent opportunities for companies to capitalize on international business and exports.
