Manchu Wok Purchases Technology to Provide Real-Time Data

TORONTO - Manchu Wok Inc., operator or franchisor of the 220-plus-unit quick-service Chinese chain, agreed to purchase a new point-of-sale system offering near real-time data analysis from Tortonto-based Remisys Corp., the distributor for Micros Systems Inc. in eastern Canada. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Toronto-based Manchu Wok selected Micros' RES3000 POS systems and Workstation 4 hardware. The new technology will allow owners and corporate staffers to view and analyze sales information; labor costs, inventory data and other sales-related information in near real-time through a business intelligence portal. The technology reduces the information lag time to 15 minutes from as much as six weeks, Remisys said. "Manchu Wok manages over 250,000 transactions a week," said Paul LeBlanc, Manchu Wok's chief financial officer. "The mymicros.net portal will allow us to view these transactions and our business in a totally different way."
