Chef Aglibot’s philosophy of cooking, which stems from his Filipino roots and growing up in Hawaii, is to keep flavors distinct, playing on the freshness of each ingredient. “You either go delicate all the way, or you go for strong defining flavors”, he states emphatically. Yi Cuisine is Chef Aglibot’s eigth restaurant venture. After graduating from the City College of San Francisco’s Hotel and Restaurant Program, he apprenticed at the prestigious Greenbrier Resort Chef’s Program in West Virginia where his cooking fundamentals would be based. After Greenbrier, Chef Aglibot returned to San Francisco, opening five restaurants in the next three years. Stylistically, he made his mark at E&O Trading Company, where he further honed his skills.
Chef Aglibot has received numerous accolades and peer recognition for his work, including an invitation to be part of the much-heralded James Beard Foundation Awards, where he created a special menu. He has also been featured on Entertainment Tonight, The Style Network, and numerous other notable food and wine events including the Bon Appetit Wines and Spirits Focus and the Culinary Winemasters for Cystic Fibrosis. Currently, he can be seen on the weekly Fox Network show “Live Like a Star”.
