Little Sichuan Restaurant

On the west coast, Cold Sichuan Noodles(Dan Dan Mian) is hard to find, especially the kind that is authentic Sichuan Cuisine. Asian Restaurant News recently visited a popular California restaurant in downtown San Mateo and discovered a true regional gem. The restaurant is called Little Sichuan. The owners additionally operate Little Sichuan Express on the other side of Bay in Fremont. At the front of the Restaurant is posted a large table sign proclaiming that Little Sichuan has earned “Restaurant of Authentic Sichuan Food” status by the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government of Sichuan, China. The owners have been successful for perfecting their signature dishes. People from all over travel to Little Sichuan and Little Sichuan Express for their menu of regional Cold Dishes, of which the Sichuan Cold Noodles is one of the most popular items. The key ingredients that make the noodles so memorable are peppercorn, soy-sauce/chili oil/peanut oil, dried spicy red peppers, pork and thinly sliced cucumbers. According to local residents such as Andrew Hyatt, “The Sichuan-style food here is incredible.
