Chefs Without Borders (CWB)Raised Fund For Hurricane Katrina Recovery

Asian Chefs Association, joined by ABC/ KGO/TV, hosted a benefit event for The Salvation Army and the San Francisco Foundation in support of these organizations’ efforts to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The black-tie event, Chefs Without Borders, was held on September 29 at Hilton San Francisco, featuring Champagne Reception & Celebrity Chefs Dine-Around. At a Tasting Reception, each chef prepared 1-2 special items that reflect their talent and cuisine. Ticket cost $250.00/person. All proceeds benefit the Salvation Army and the San Francisco Foundation. The list of participating business includes Ana Mandara, Restaurant BUDO, BIG 4, Chef Chu's, Cityscape Bar & Restaurant, Hilton San Francisco, EOS and Bacar Restaurants, Gerhard Michler Fine European Desserts, Inter-Continentail Mark Hopkins Hotel, John Bentley, Joseph Schmidt Confections, La Folie, La Suite, Le Colonial, Le Soleil, Left Bank, Ozu-mo, Parcel 104, Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion, Ritz-Carlton San Francisco, Rubicon, Silk Mandarin Oriental, Sent Sovi, Straits Restaurant, South Sea Seafood Village, Sushi Ran, Sino Restau-rant, Thep Phanom, Three Seasons, Tommy Toy’s, Vignette Restaurant, Honig Vineyard, Damrak Gin, FIJI Water, HAN Asian Vodka, Northwest Wines, Rodney Strong Vineyards, Rosenblum Cellars, SF Wine Exchange, Sierra Nevada, World Sake Imports, and more. ABC7 News anchor Cheryl Jennings served as Master of Ceremonies and KCBS Radio Food and Wine Editor Narsai David acted as the auctioneer. Chefs Without Borders (CWB) is a concerned group of chefs and restaurants of all culinary styles organized by the Asian Chefs Association (ACA) for the singular purpose of benefiting humanitarian aid. Our February, 2005 Tsunami event raised over $90,000 for relief and recovery efforts. ACA is a family of community-minded chefs and culinary professionals who share a passion of Asian and Pan-Asian cui-sine.
