Chinese Restaurants Cheered for the 2nd Annual Top 100 Award
On October 10th, we shared the excitement with our sister publication Chinese Restaurant News, at the announcement of the second annual award winners of Top 100 Chinese Restaurants in USA (2005).
The award is the only annual award program in recognition of the excellence of Chinese restaurants across 50 states in the nation. Chinese restaurants in USA today represent a $17.5 billion industry and have become a culinary mainstay in the life of American people. The ultimate goal of the Top100 Award is to present the best of Chinese cuisine to the American public.
World-renowned Master Chef and TV Host Martin Yan made the opening remarks, and congratulated the Top 100 honorees of winning Chinese restaurants from 36 states. The ceremony was hosted by Los Angeles TV & Radio show hostess Chef Theresa Lin. Chef Lin is especially famous for her title as the “Food Designer” for the movie “ East Drink Man Woman”, directed by Ang Lee. Members from the Top 100 list Reviewing & Judge Committee, Jacqueline Newman and Robert Danhi also attended and greeted winners at the event. Other members on the Judges Committee included Kwan P. Cheung (column host), Arthur H. Ku (Vice President of World Journal, San Francisco), Chau Lam (co-founder of Asian Chef Association), and Betty Xie (Editor-in-Chief, Chinese Restaurant News).
The National Restaurant Association overnighted to the event a congratulatory letter which showed endorsement to the award and extended best wishes for continued success and prosperity of Chinese restaurants in U.S. The Mayor’s office of Los Angeles also sent letter welcoming the Top 100 award winners to the city.
