Qdoba Mexican Grill Announces Nationwide Implementation of Trans Fat Free Oil

DENVER-- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Qdoba Mexican Grill, a nouveau-Mexican fast-casual restaurant with locations in 40 states, is pleased to announce that its frying oil contains zero artificial trans fats per serving and has been implemented in Qdoba restaurants nationwide. As well, Qdobas full menu meets the guidelines for zero artificial trans fats in both New York City and throughout the state of Colorado. Qdoba anticipates nationwide implementation of zero artificial trans fats for all menu items by the end of 2007.

Committed to the health of its customers, the company reformulated their tortillas and brownies to contain no artificial trans fats in 2006. While Qdobas frying oil contains no artificial trans fats, frying oil plays only a small part in Qdobas fresh-focused menu, which features fresh items such as grilled meats, pico de gallo salsa made daily on site and grilled fresh vegetables. The only fried menu items at Qdoba are the tortilla chips, taco shells and salad shells. To ensure that all ingredients meet the recommended zero artificial trans fat guidelines, Qdoba has been reviewing the few other applicable menu items, placing further emphasis on Qdobas commitment to providing fresh and flavorful options for their consumers.

At Qdoba we strive to provide flavorful products while at the same time taking our customers health into consideration, said Qdoba CEO and president Gary Beisler. That is why we have been diligently working to reduce or eliminate any artificial trans fats in order to meet or exceed recommended guidelines for all our individual ingredients.

Additional steps being taken by Qdoba to ensure healthy options for consumers include purchasing 100 percent all-natural chicken, pork, shredded beef and ground sirloin. As well, Qdoba serves lean shredded pork and lean shredded beef.
