Amy Grant Shares Small Changes That Can Make A Big Difference This Holiday Season

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J.-- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- This Thanksgiving, six-time Grammy Award-winning singer Amy Grant and Shedd's Spread Country Crock(R) Omega Plus are reminding busy families to focus on the small things in life. Amy Grant is leading the Country Crock(R) “Small Changes” campaign, encouraging people to focus on small changes they can make in their diets and their lives to make a big difference in their family's health and wellbeing during the busy holiday season. Visit www.YourFamilyTable.com to share your small changes and Country Crock(R) Omega Plus will donate a meal to a family in need through Feeding America (formally America's Second Harvest)1.

“Juggling the holidays amidst an already busy schedule can be difficult for any of us, but I try to remind myself daily that it's important to take small steps toward a healthier lifestyle in the midst of the busyness,” said Amy Grant. “Whether eating more vegetables, buying foods with more nutritional value or going for a brisk walk outside, I'm encouraging people across the country to make small changes this holiday season to improve their family's health and wellbeing.”

Adding Country Crock(R) Omega Plus Spread to your meals is one small change families can make to get more Omega-3 ALA in their diets. Omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is an essential fatty acid that our bodies don't produce on their own so we need to get it from foods in our diet. Country Crock(R) Omega Plus Spread contains 500 mg of Omega-3 ALA per serving2 which is 38 percent of the Daily Value for ALA. Country Crock(R) Omega Plus Spread is made from a blend of nutritious oils, including canola and soybean, has zero grams of trans fat per serving3, no partially hydrogenated oils and the same great country-fresh taste that families love.

Country Crock(R) Omega Plus Spread is easy to include in holiday recipes as well. Some of Amy Grant's favorite Thanksgiving recipes from Country Crock include Savory Cranberry Sauce and Turkey & Caramelized Fruit Stuffing:

Amy Grant also offers some of her own tips to help families focus on the small things this holiday season:

Fall into activity: As the weather gets colder find ways to stay active. Park far from store entrances to enjoy a brisk walk, rake leaves as a family and visit an orchard to pick fresh apples or pumpkins.

Steer clear of unhealthy holiday snacking: If you get ambushed by a snack attack between meals or at social functions, bring along or request a nutritious snack like baby carrots or celery with peanut butter. The snack will help you feel satisfied and curb your desire to continue snacking.

You snooze, you win: Make sure not to skimp on the shut-eye! Sleeping is the body's way to recharge and is as important for our bodies as food and water.
